Officers in Renfrewshire have arrested a man in connection with recent spate of break ins to cars targeting taxis across the area.
Around 3.10am on Friday, 20 September, officers responded to a break-in at a car on Quarrelton Road in Johnstone.
A 46-year-old man was subsequently traced in the area.
He has since been arrested and charged in connection with 18 thefts and vandalisms to cars in Linwood and Johnstone between Wednesday, 4 September and Friday, 20 September. Many of the incidents involved taxis.
He appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, 23 September.
Inspector Lorna McLaren said: “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Renfrewshire. This arrest is a result of the efforts of local officers and members of the community being vigilant.
“We would remind residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police. Please also ensure any cash or valuable items are removed from your car when parked and park in well lit areas where possible.”
