Illegal Dumping Caught Out by Careless Clue in Ferguslie Park

Fly-tipping reared its ugly head once again in Ferguslie Park over the weekend, as piles of waste were dumped at the corner of Craigielea Drive and Drums Avenue. The illegal dump included a variety of household items: doors, timber, glass, plasterboard, kitchen sinks, water heaters, tiles, and other debris. It seems the fly by night was in the midst of a full-scale home renovation—or perhaps simply offloading junk they no longer needed.

But in an ironic twist, the attempt to dispose of the waste may have backfired after its emerged that the family who’s names appear have CCTV evidence showing it was a fly by night company to whom they paid £130. Amid the scattered rubbish, a few names and addresses on boxes were left behind, pointing directly to the property’s they have came from, two addresses were found on the discarded items, leading from a residence in Hillington to a home in Nitshill, where house prices average around £212,000.

One box in particular, a brand-new Sky broadband hub, was a giveaway. The label clearly indicated the package had been redelivered to an address on October 3rd, just hours before the mess was dumped. Perhaps the fly-tipper was in such a hurry to set up their high-speed internet that they forgot to cover their tracks.

Local authorities have been notified, and residents are hopeful that with such clear evidence, the culprit will soon face the consequences of their careless actions. For now, the community watches and waits—hoping the person responsible might catch a glimpse of this story on their shiny new broadband connection.
