This afternoon, a major emergency response was launched on May Road in Glenburn, as numerous specialised units descended on the area. Police, Scottish Fire and Rescue, and a host of other resources, including specialised firearms officers and a National Inter-Agency Liaison Officer (NILO) from the SRFS, were on the scene, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.

A Police spokesperson added: “Around 2.30pm on Friday, 18 October, 2024 officers were called to reports of concern for a man within a property in the May Road area of Glenburn, Paisley. Officers attended and the incident was contained with no risk to the wider public a 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date”. it was evident that the emergency services were taking no chances. Firearms officers quickly moved to secure the property at the center of the situation, while nearby homes had their gas supply cut off as a precaution. Roads surrounding the area were also closed to the public to ensure safety.

The tense situation came to a close after 6 pm, when firearms officers entered the property, bringing the incident under control. While there are still many questions about what led to the dramatic response, the swift and coordinated efforts of all involved ensured that the public was kept safe throughout the operation.
