Teen Arrested After Police Pursuit Ends in Crash in Paisley

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged after a vehicle failed to stop for police and later crashed in Paisley on Sunday night.

The incident occurred at around 11.30pm on January 5 on Arkleston Road. According to Police Scotland, the vehicle involved allegedly did not stop when requested by officers and subsequently collided nearby.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

The situation drew significant attention from local residents, who noted an increased police presence in the area. Witnesses reported seeing several police vehicles with flashing lights and a police helicopter circling above.

One resident shared on social media: “Helicopter and lots of police with lights on Arkleston Road.”

Police Scotland later confirmed the use of the force’s helicopter during the incident.

In a statement, a spokesperson said:

“Around 11.30pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025, a vehicle failed to stop for police and subsequently crashed in Arkleston Road, Paisley. A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The teenager is expected to face legal proceedings in connection with the incident.
