Historic Doulton Memorial to Find a New Home in Paisley Abbey

A piece of Paisley’s industrial and cultural history is set to take pride of place in Paisley Abbey, as the restored Doulton memorial will soon be installed within its walls.

Originally erected at the Doulton & Co Ltd factory on Hawkhead Road, the memorial was a tribute to the workers and legacy of the renowned ceramics company. When the factory closed, the memorial was relocated to the cemetery to preserve its connection to the community. Recently, it underwent a meticulous restoration to return it to its former glory.

While a specific date for the installation has not yet been announced, the confirmation of its placement in Paisley Abbey has been met with enthusiasm. The Abbey, a historic landmark in its own right, will provide a fitting and prominent location for the memorial.

This move celebrates not only the craftsmanship and heritage of Doulton & Co Ltd and its restoration but also Paisley’s rich industrial history. Visitors to the Abbey will soon have the chance to view this beautifully restored memorial, ensuring its story is preserved for generations to come.

Stay tuned for updates on the installation date and more details about the restoration process.
