UPDATE: Cannabis Farm Discovered in Paisley Building as Police Secure Scene

A large-scale cannabis farm has been uncovered on the upper floors of a prominent building on Causeyside Street, Paisley. Police have been guarding the premises overnight while awaiting a warrant to access the site and continue their investigation.

The illicit operation was found on the top two floors—numbers three and four—of 24 Causeyside Street, which are accessed via a side door on Leighkirk Lane. The lease for these floors was reportedly in the name of MXC Communications, a company registered in Uddingston, Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Lara-May Sofas, which occupies the ground floor and also has access to second floor only, has issued a statement distancing itself from the situation. The company emphasised that it has no connection to the illegal activity and reassured customers that their business remains unaffected.

A spokesperson for Lara-May Sofas stated:

“We would like to clarify that a recent discovery of a cannabis farm in the upper part of 24 Causeyside Street has absolutely no connection to Lara-May Sofas. The area in question is accessed via a separate side entrance and was previously leased out by the building’s former owner to unknown individuals. As soon as we became aware of the situation, we fully cooperated with the authorities, allowing them full access to conduct their investigation. We have also volunteered to assist in any way we can. Our furniture store remains completely separate from this matter, and we want to assure our valued customers that we will be back open in a day or so once the police conclude their work. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

Police remain at the scene, securing the property while awaiting further legal authorisation to proceed. In the meantime, they have also obtained keys to other properties within the building to assist with their investigation.

The discovery has raised questions about how the upper floors of the building were leased out and who was responsible for the illegal operation. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made.

This story is developing, and we will provide updates as more details emerge.
