Shoppers in Linwood will soon notice a change in their late-night shopping options, as ASDA at the Phoenix Retail Park has announced a reduction to its opening hours.
Starting next week, the store will no longer operate on a 24-hour basis. Instead, new hours will be in effect from 6am until midnight, seven days a week.
The decision brings an end to the round-the-clock service many locals have come to rely on — particularly night shift workers, early risers, and those who prefer a quieter shopping experience in the early hours.
ASDA has not yet given a detailed reason for the change, but it’s part of a wider trend in the retail sector where many stores have moved away from 24-hour trading, often citing changes in customer habits and operational efficiency.
End of an Era for Pyjama Patrol
Of course, this change won’t just affect people’s shopping schedules — it’s also a major blow to the proud community of late-night shoppers who roam the aisles in their dressing gowns, slippers, and cartoon pyjamas.

One local shopper joked, “If I can’t do my weekly shop in my PJs with a messy bun and no judgement, is it even ASDA anymore?”
