Teenager Named Following Fatal Incident on Irvine Beach

Police have named the 16-year-old boy who died following a disturbance at Irvine beach on Saturday evening as Kayden Moy, from East Kilbride.

Emergency services were called to the beach around 6.45pm on Saturday, May 17, following reports of a serious incident. Kayden was found with critical injuries and received treatment both at the scene and later in hospital, where he tragically died on Sunday, May 18.

Police Scotland say Kayden’s family is being supported by specialist officers, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

major investigation is underway, and detectives are appealing for anyone who was on the beach at the time – particularly those who may have filmed the incident on mobile phones – to come forward.

Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson from the Major Investigations Team said:

“Our officers are supporting the boy’s family at this very difficult and heartbreaking time. From our investigation so far, we know there were a number of people on the beach around the time of the disturbance. We believe several of them were filming at the time and may have footage of what happened.”

Superintendent Jim McMillan added:

“We understand this death will be of great concern for the local community, but please be assured that we are doing everything we can to identify those involved.”

Increased police patrols will be present in the area in the coming days. Officers are asking anyone with concerns to speak with them directly.
