The skies cleared just in time for Renfrew’s much-loved Gala Day on Sunday 1st June, as the rain made way for sunshine and celebration.
A colourful parade led the festivities, with Deputy Provost Cathy McEwan at the helm breaking a few Hawaiian dance moves on the way, bringing energy and civic pride to the town centre. Crowds lined the streets to cheer on a fantastic line-up of local groups, including Block Winnoch, the Renfrew Association of Gardeners and Growers, and the Scottish BMX School, whose skills impressed both young and old.

Also marching proudly were the 1st Renfrew Guides and 3rd Renfrew Brownies, Apelly group, and the Army Cadet Force. Entertainment was in full flow thanks to Rock-us Community Choir, Circus Alba, two impressive stilt walkers, and a vibrant display from Karen E Moir Dance and Drama.
The parade made its way to Robertson Park, where the festivities continued with a bustling mix of community stalls, funfair rides, and entertainment for all ages. From candy floss to crafts, the park buzzed with activity as families soaked up the warm weather and good cheer.
Renfrew Gala Day once again proved why it’s a firm favourite in the town’s calendar – a true celebration of community spirit, local talent, and togetherness.
