Friday 13th Incident at Queen Street’s Witches’ Well Raises Concerns Over Path Safety

An incident on Friday the 13th of June has sparked concern in Paisley after a woman was found injured near the Witches’ Well on Queen Street. The individual had fallen from her mobility scooter and required assistance at the scene from Scottish fire and rescue and the Scottish Ambulance service,Her condition is currently unknown, but our thoughts are with her, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.

While the full circumstances of the fall remain unclear, this incident highlights a wider issue that many residents have long raised — the size and condition of the pavements in this part of Paisley, particularly around Queen Street and the historic Witches’ Well area.

For those using mobility scooters, walking aids, or simply trying to navigate with young children or prams, the narrow paths can pose a real risk. And can make moving around safely a challenge, especially in a town centre that should be accessible to all.

This area holds significant historical and cultural value, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of public safety. As Paisley continues to attract more visitors and local footfall through ongoing regeneration efforts, it’s vital that public infrastructure keeps pace.

In the meantime, we once again send our best wishes to the woman involved in Friday’s incident and hope she makes a full recovery soon.
