Demolition Under Way at Dykebar Hospital

One of the largest in size and most recognisable buildings at Dykebar Hospital is now coming down, as Central Demolition moves in to begin work on-site. The building, which has lain unused for several years, is finally being cleared after a demolition tender was recently awarded.

The removal marks a significant moment for the site, which has long been the subject of speculation and concern from local residents. Once a bustling part of Paisley’s healthcare infrastructure, the now-empty structure had fallen into disrepair, prompting calls for action.

Its demolition comes as part of a wider wave of clearance activity across the town, with five major demolition sites now active within Paisley alone. While each has its own history and context, the growing number of tear-downs points to a period of rapid change for Paisley — and possibly regeneration — for the area.

As the skyline around Dykebar begins to shift, many will watch with curiosity to see what the future holds for the hospital grounds and surrounding land for the large section being demolished.
