A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Johnstone.
The incident took place on Sunday, 13 July, 2025. Police have confirmed that the man is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Detective Inspector David Hardie, who is leading the investigation, said:
“We know this incident has caused concern in the local community and I would like to thank members of the public for their support during our enquiries.”
Police Scotland have not released further details at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward.
