Detectives Appeal for Information After Car Set Alight in Paisley

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a car was deliberately set on fire in Paisley late on Friday night.

The incident happened around 11.35pm on Friday, 18 July 2025, when a black Jeep Compass was wilfully set alight on Hartfield Terrace.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews responded quickly and extinguished the flames. Thankfully, no one was injured.

However, detectives believe the fire was started deliberately and are treating the incident as wilful fire-raising.

Detective Constable Zain Kayani said:

“Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident, and I am asking anyone who might have been in the area and saw something to get in touch.

Similarly, anyone in the area with private CCTV or dash-cam footage that might have captured anything at the time is urged to contact us.”

If you have any information that could assist police with their investigation, you are urged to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4440 of 18 July. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Even the smallest detail could help detectives piece together what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
