A 41-year-old man has been arrested following a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow early on Sunday morning.
Footage has been circulating online showing a man on an aircraft shouting “death to America, death to Trump” and “Allahu Akbar” – an Arabic phrase meaning “God is great”.
Two men then tackle him and pin him to the floor of the plane. Police Scotland said the footage was being assessed by counter-terrorism officers.
Police Scotland confirmed they received a report of the incident around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July 2025. Officers met the aircraft on its arrival and took the man into custody. He remains detained as enquiries continue.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:
“At this time, we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved.”
Videos allegedly showing the onboard incident have begun circulating on social media. Police say these are being reviewed by counter terrorism officers as part of their ongoing investigation.
No further details have been released, but authorities are urging the public not to speculate while the enquiry is ongoing.
