Man, 41, Appears in Court On Non Terrorism Charges After ‘Disturbance’ on easyJet Flight

A 41-year-old man has appeared in court following a serious incident on board an easyJet flight that landed at Glasgow Airport on Sunday morning.

Abhay Devdas Nayak, from Luton, was arrested after the flight touched down at around 8.20am and was later charged with assault and endangering the safety of an aircraft.

The incident sparked concern among passengers and online viewers after footage from the flight emerged. Counter-terrorism officers were brought in to assess the material, fuelling speculation about the seriousness of the event.

However, authorities confirmed that Nayak is not facing any terrorism-related charges — a decision that has prompted surprise and debate among members of the public. On social media, some users questioned why the counter-terror probe did not lead to more serious charges, given the nature of the mid-air disruption.

Nayak appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday but made no plea. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear again in eight days.

While the exact details of the disturbance have not been released, the presence of specialist officers in the initial stages of the investigation has only added to public interest and scrutiny.

easyJet has not yet commented on the incident.
