A construction site in the heart of Paisley was cordoned off on Tuesday afternoon following the discovery of a human skull was found in the foundations according to a source on site.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Orchard Street shortly after 12.40pm on July 29. Officers quickly sealed off the area while investigations got underway.

Details remain scarce, but a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed:
“Around 12.40pm on Tuesday, 29 July, 2025, we were called to a report of possible human remains having been found at a construction site in the Orchard Street area of Paisley. Enquiries are ongoing.”
The site is currently under police guard, with officers maintaining a visible presence as forensic teams begin work to determine the nature of the discovery.
Local workers and residents have expressed shock at the incident, with many watching from behind the police tape as specialists arrived on-site.

It’s not yet known how old the remains are, or whether they are linked to any ongoing investigations or historical cases in the area.
