Local Butcher Feels Impact of Road Changes in Paisley’s West End

A long-standing local business in Paisley’s West End has today noticed a sharp drop in customer numbers, as temporary traffic restrictions take hold on Well Street.

Graeme’s the Butchers, a well-known shop serving the community for years, reported fewer people through its doors this morning. The cause appears to be the new road filter lane, introduced to manage traffic while demolition work takes place nearby.

The demolition project has required significant adjustments in the area, with Well Street traffic now redirected and slowed. While the measures are in place for safety, businesses such as Graeme’s are feeling the immediate knock-on effect.

Speaking this morning, staff at Graeme’s said they hoped regular customers wouldn’t be put off by the temporary disruption. They stressed that the shop remains fully open and ready to serve, despite the changes on the street outside.

Another local trader Kenny’s the Barbers has closed for two weeks as he has previously seen the downfall in customers during demolition works and road closures in the area.

Local traders have often highlighted how vital footfall is for small shops, and even short-term changes can have a big impact on daily trade.

As demolition progresses, it’s hoped that disruption will be kept to a minimum — and that loyal customers will continue to support Graeme’s and other West End businesses through the period of change.
