Roadworks Warning Major Closures in Paisley coming this Autumn

Drivers in Paisley’s West End are being warned to expect disruption this autumn as two phases of resurfacing works around Broomlands Street will bring road closures and waiting restrictions.

The works are currently scheduled to run anytime from Sunday 28th September 2025 to Monday 27th October 2025, though the exact start date is still to be confirmed and will only be effective when so displayed by signs.


Phase 1 – Broomlands Street (Maxwellton Street to King Street)

  • Type of closure: Overnight closures, expected to take seven nights.
  • What’s happening: Resurfacing from Maxwellton Street to King Street (including the junction).
  • Daytime access: The junction will reopen during the day, though lane closures and temporary traffic signalsmay be in place.
  • Restrictions: A temporary prohibition of waiting and loading will apply on both sides of Broomlands Street from Maxwellton Street to Ferguslie.

Alternative Routes (Phase 1):
B775 Underwood Road → Greenhill Road → Ferguslie Park Avenue → Barskiven Road → A761 Linwood Road → A761 Ferguslie → B775 Maxwellton Street (and vice versa).


Phase 2 – Broomlands Street (King Street to Castle Street)

  • Type of closure: Full day and night closure from the end of Phase 1’s overnight works.
  • What’s happening: Resurfacing from King Street to Castle Street (including the junction).
  • Restrictions: A temporary prohibition of waiting and loading will apply on Queen Street and Cross Street.

Alternative Routes (Phase 2):
B775 Maxwellton Street → A761 Canal Street → Wardrop Street → George Street → Castle Street.


Plan Ahead

With both phases expected to cause disruption in the West End, drivers are advised to plan ahead, follow diversion routes, and allow extra time for journeys during the works period.
