Barshaw Park was left looking more like a mud bath than a showground after Big Kid Circus rolled out of Paisley this week — but the company has now confirmed it will take full responsibility for reinstating the area.
The travelling circus, which pitched up in the popular park earlier this month, drew large crowds with its family-friendly performances. However, after several days of heavy rain and vehicle movements across the grass, large patches of the park were left churned up and muddy.
Local park users voiced frustration over the condition of the site, which had been a popular spot for dog walkers and families before the event.
In response, Big Kid Circus has assured Renfrewshire Council and the public that full reinstatement work will be carried out to restore Barshaw Park to its original condition.
A spokesperson for the circus said:
“We take great pride in visiting towns across the country and always ensure we leave every site exactly as we found it. Unfortunately, the recent wet weather made conditions difficult, but we’ve already arranged for ground restoration work to be carried out at Barshaw Park. We’re working closely with the council to make sure everything is put right.”
Renfrewshire Council confirmed it is in touch with the organisers and expects the park to be fully reinstated before Christmas.
Despite the muddy aftermath, many residents have praised the circus for owning up and acting quickly. As one local commented, “It’s good to see them taking responsibility — the show was great fun, and it’s only fair they fix the park afterwards.”
