Flooding Works Finally Underway on Paisley Road

Residents and drivers in Renfrew will be relieved to see long-awaited work finally beginning on one of the area’s most persistent flooding hotspots. The section of Paisley Road heading towards the traffic lights at Renfrew Cross — directly opposite the old Hope Dairy and just before the Highland Star — has been plagued by surface water for years, often leaving the road difficult to navigate during heavier spells of rain.

The issue has been a recurring frustration for locals, with the flooded stretch becoming a familiar sight every winter. Now, after repeated concerns from the community, groundworks are underway to improve drainage and reduce the pooling of water that has caused so many problems.

The project is expected to alleviate the standing water that gathers at this pinch point, improving safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians alike. For many, it’s a welcome step towards finally resolving an issue that has lingered far too long.

As the works continue, short-term disruption is a small price to pay for a permanent fix — and residents will no doubt be watching closely to see if this long-problematic corner of Renfrew can finally stay dry.
