Scottish water are currently preparing to carry out planned repairs to a burst water main at Glasgow Airport, which is located on our network that supplies water to customers across areas of Paisley PA1, PA2, PA3, and Elderslie PA5.
As a result of this burst, we will be carrying out valve operations today (January 6th) to maintain water supplies for customers in the aforementioned areas whilst we carry out this repair.
However, please be aware that whilst these network alterations are in place, some customers may experience discoloured water which is normal during such an incident.
If your water is brown, please allow your cold water kitchen tap to run gently at around half pressure. Please do not run any other taps, or use any water appliances in the property until this is running clear. Once this is running clear from the cold water kitchen tap, please follow the same process with any other taps experiencing discoloured water.
If your water is cloudy, this is air trapped in the supply and will clear over the next 24-48 hours.
Due to the complexity of the repair and the location of the burst within the Airport, we anticipate that repairs may be ongoing for up to a couple of weeks (w/c January 19th).
We have been liaising with Glasgow Airport to ensure our teams can access the water main safely, and carry out the repair so we can return our network to normal as quickly as possible.
We would like to thank all customers for their co-operation whilst we carry out this essential repair.
