Renfrewshire Council has issued a Prior Notification for Demolition for two housing blocks in Paisley, marking the beginning of phase three of the wider housing regeneration programme.
The properties affected are 2–22 Mossvale Street and 47–53 Springbank Road, both four-storey residential blocks dating from the 1960s/70s. Since becoming vacant, the buildings have increasingly become targets for fire-raising attempts, breaches, and antisocial behaviour, creating safety concerns for the surrounding community and accelerating the need for their removal.
The 2–22 Mossvale Street block is a traditionally constructed four-storey building comprising upstairs/downstairs maisonette properties, arranged around a central mid-height external access deck. Individual homes are accessed via concrete stairwells at either end of the building.

Meanwhile, 47–53 Springbank Road is also a four-storey modern block from the same era, providing flatted properties. The building features a central concrete stairwell, with landings leading to external access decks serving individual homes on either side.
Both buildings are of similar construction, formed using concrete columns, decks and floors, with external brick walls and render finishes. Internally, they include brick and timber partition walls, and are topped with traditional timber trussed roofs finished with concrete Marley tiles.
The demolition forms part of the long-term transformation of the Mossvale area, as regeneration efforts continue to reshape former housing stock into safer, more sustainable environments for future development. The removal of these derelict buildings is expected to improve safety, reduce antisocial activity, and prepare the site for the next stage of regeneration within the community.
