Around 8.15pm on Tuesday, 3 March, 2026, a teenage male was attacked by an unknown man on Meetinghouse Lane.
The suspect is described as white, around 30-years-old, with long brown hair. He was wearing a black gilet, light coloured hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and black and grey Nike shoes.
Officers remain in the area as enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector David Hardie said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim and it’s vital we trace the man responsible.
“I’m appealing to anyone with information to come forward. We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen two males, one matching the suspect description, in the County Square area around 8pm.
“I’d also ask drivers with dash-cams or residents with private CCTV or doorbell cameras to check your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
