Emergency Services Manage Crisis at Royal Alexandra Hospital

Emergency services responded to a serious incident at the maternity unit of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley this afternoon after concerns were raised for the safety of a woman who had climbed onto scaffolding at the building.

A large emergency response quickly gathered at the scene, including crews from the Scottish Ambulance Service, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and officers from Police Scotland. Specialist rope teams and trained police negotiators were also called to help bring the situation to a safe conclusion.

Thanks to the calm and careful efforts of the emergency services, the incident ended safely, with the woman coming down from the roof and being taken into the care of emergency personnel.
