A massive roadworks operation is now underway across several busy streets, with resurfacing works expected to last for the next 26 days.
The large-scale project will see improvements carried out along Broomlands Street to Canal Street, including the junctions with George Street and Main Road. Additional work will also take place on Canal Street, from George Street to Broomlands Street, and along George Street from George Street to Lounsdale Road.

The work will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption, although some temporary closures are already in place.
The first phase began today, with a section of George Street closed between Broomlands Street and Maxwellton Street to allow resurfacing crews to safely begin operations.
Motorists and residents are being advised to allow extra travel time and to follow clearly marked diversion routes while the works are ongoing.
Once complete, the resurfacing programme is expected to significantly improve road conditions across this busy stretch, helping to create smoother and safer journeys for road users.
