Paisley was in the spotlight earlier today Friday 22nd August 2025 as cameras rolled for the second series of the hit BBC sitcom Only Child.

The show, described as “funny and touching,” stars two of Scotland’s best-loved actors – Gregor Fisher (71), famed for Rab C Nesbitt and Love Actually, and Greg McHugh (45), known for The A Word, Fresh Meat, Gary Tank Commander and Guilt. The pair play squabbling father-and-son duo, Ken and Richard Pritchard.

The BBC confirmed this week that filming will take place at locations across Scotland, including Glasgow, Paisley and Helensburgh. Local residents may have spotted crews working in parts of the town as production got underway.
Joining Fisher and McHugh in series two are familiar faces from the first outing:
- Amy Lennox (Holby City, Blade Runner 2099) as Emily
- Clare Barrett (Sisters, Fréwaka) as Jen
- Robin Laing (The Gold, Outlander) as Ian
- Paul Rattray (Jamestown, Game of Thrones) as Digsy
Produced by Happy Tramp North for BBC Comedy, BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer, the new six-part run promises more sharp humour, heartfelt moments, and of course, the ongoing clashes between Ken and Richard.
Paisley has been a popular backdrop for film and TV in recent years – and with Only Child returning to screens, the town once again takes a starring role.
