Shetland Series 11

Series 11 — Take 1

It was officially confirmed in 2025 by the BBC that Shetland would return for an eleventh series, set to air in 2026.

Following the twist-filled finale of Series 10, filming for the brand-new series began in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, on Monday 30th March 2026. The quiet village was soon buzzing with activity as cameras rolled and production crews prepared for another gripping chapter of the much-loved crime drama.

Fans will be pleased to see the return of Ashley Jensen as DI Ruth Calder, alongside Alison O’Donnell as DI Alison “Tosh” McIntosh, whose character continues to play a central role in the unfolding story.

This series marks a special first for viewers, as DI Alison’s house will finally be seen on screen, offering a glimpse into the private world of the determined detective away from her work. It was also a memorable day on set, as Tosh’s daughter, Louise, was present during filming — another small but meaningful milestone for the production.

There were a few surprises during filming today, but those will remain closely guarded secrets for now — no spoilers here. Fans will simply have to wait until the new series airs to discover what twists and turns lie ahead.
