An 85-year-old man has sadly passed away in hospital following a road traffic collision on Beith Road, Johnstone, on Sunday, 29 December 2024.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 am and involved a red Toyota Corolla and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as John Allan, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he tragically passed away on Tuesday, 31 December 2024.
Sergeant Paul Mellis of the Road Policing Unit expressed his condolences:
“Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing. Police have issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0814 of 29 December 2024.
The local community has been deeply affected by this tragedy, with many offering their sympathies to Mr. Allan’s loved ones.
