A tragic incident occurred on Hogmanay in Paisley when a 70-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Barrhead Road around 7 pm. The vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.
The accident took place a short distance east of the junction with Ladykirk Crescent. Emergency services were called to the site, but sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed to facilitate investigations but has since reopened as of this afternoon.

Police have identified the vehicle involved as a white car and are actively working to locate it. Detective Inspector David Tomlinson, who is leading the investigation, said:

Inspector Tomlinson added:
“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who thinks they have seen a car matching this description after the collision, especially if it appears to have sustained damage.”
