Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously injured during a disturbance in Paisley on Friday night.
The incident happened around 9.30pm on Gauze Street (Friday, 8 August 2025), when officers were called following reports of a fight between two groups of youths.
A 17-year-old male sustained a slash wound to his face and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
The suspect for this attack is described as White, late teens, slim build, wearing a blue North Face hooded top with white horizontal stripes, and carrying a black bum bag. He ran off after the attack under the Gilmour Street bridge towards Christie Lane.
A second 17-year-old youth was also punched in the face during the disturbance but did not require medical treatment at the time.
The suspect in this second attack is described as White, late teens, slim build, wearing a two-tone grey tracksuit (light grey top half, dark grey bottom half) and with a tattoo on his left hand. He also ran off towards Christie Lane.
Detective Constable Rhys Wake of Paisley CID said:
“From our enquiries so far, we know the injured youths were part of a group who appear to have met with another group of youths. During that meeting, a fight took place.
“We believe several of those present were armed with knives, with one being used to cause injury.
“CCTV shows the suspects later changed clothes and were seen around midnight in Old Sneddon Street walking towards Moncrieff Street. The suspect in the blue hoodie was later wearing a black top and royal blue tracksuit bottoms. The suspect in the grey tracksuit changed into a full black tracksuit and still had the black bum bag.”
Police believe Gauze Street would have been busy at the time and are urging anyone who saw the incident — or has dashcam footage from Gauze Street, Gilmour Street, Christie Lane between 9.20pm and 9.40pm, or Old Sneddon Street/Moncrieff Street around midnight — to get in touch.
