Parking Machine Not Working .. Here is the Correct Way To Qualify For Free Parking In Renfrewshire

First thing is your looking for two machines in the same area where parking machines are not working, and there is currently quite a few locations this applies too in Renfrewshire currently !.

All to often in Renfrewshire the Parking meters are not in use due to the machine being broken or in the case of most there simply not being replaced or fixed due to the condition of many of the machines, so this would apply where for example your machine is NOT working and the other beside it is NOT Working ( haven’t tried missing/un-replaced machines yet ).

Renfrewshire Council do state ” If a nearby parking machine in the same area and tariff is available, you should use this instead.” however it’s ALSO stated ” If there are no other parking machines and you are unable to use RingGo to pay for your parking you can park for free. You will be asked to provide your vehicle registration in this form if this is the case.”

So this would apply where there are no other parking machines and you are unable to use RingGo to pay for your parking you can park for free ( so no cash in your account to pay is going to qualify ). You will be asked to provide your vehicle registration in this form if this is the case

The little section which in my opinion is well hidden away on the Renfrewshire Council website tells you how to park for FREE ! and its been there quite a while it seems ! at time of posting this the links are provided of where page is for reference.

FIRST STEP is to put photos of the faults machines and your registration in your phone as you can uploaded them in the form to make it quicker. ( you can just to step 3 for quickness )

STEPS

  1. go to https://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk
  2. click on Roads, transport and Parking in bottom left of screen https://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/article/2159/Roads-transport-and-parking
  3. Click on Report a road, street lighting fault or flooding online https://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/article/2159/Roads-transport-and-parking
  4. Click on allow in the pop up screen
  5. Scroll down to the link report a faulty parking machine
  6. Click next
  7. Accept the privacy notice by ticking the box
  8. Click on Next
  9. Enter answers to the pop up questions to check your eligibility.
