FOTW ( Friends of the West ) were looking to support the school in fundraising efforts to buy outdoor gym equipment. This was something the children were especially keen to have added to the playground following the devastating fire to the bandstand in 2022.
So the bright sparks at West Primary school in Paisley’s Newton Street thought what better way to turn the fire damage into something positive for the school than to host the first ever West fundraising FIREWALk!
Paisley Fire brigade turned up to show the kids around the fire engine and talk all things fire. If you were looking for a bite to eat then the β Iβm Starvin Marvinβ food van was in the playground where you could purchase burgers/ chips/ slushes and lots lots more. great to see the van being so busy on the night !.
The Raffle table had some amazing prizes up for grabs including , (Tour of Ibrox, Edinburgh Zoo family passes, Butchers steak and grill meal voucher to name a few. )
Helen, Paisley’s very own Fire dancer was teaching the kids how to do some tricks using LED lights and props. ( no fire) and later then entertained us all with her special fire dance performance. Which was one definitely one not to be missed!
Terry the Dinosaur made his appearance. Terry is a hand reared 7ft friendly T- Rex he was coming along with his friend Marshall from Paw Patrol. They are loved meeting all the spectators and also chasing our nervous fire walkers across the burning coals who were piped from the school to the fire walk by Piper Michael Kerr from Kilbarchan Pipe Band.
Spectators were cheering on from the side lines as the brave fire walkers faced their fears and completed the challenge.
Raffle prizes and presentation certificates will be given out at the end of the night.
