A map was shown last night to the PWCCC Paisley West and Central Community Council by a member of the Oakshaw residents association on a idea for a one-way system in the Westend of Paisley.
The reason for the idea was that there was too much congestion in Wellmeadow due to the Starlight Theatre Company, Rocknrollas and Coats venue all operating within such a short distance of each other, it was also stated that the road could be victorian or medieval but they were not quite sure !.
The plan which is in its early infancy and has been sent out to numerous organisations, roads dept etc for there early thoughts involves a no right turn as you go up Well street and a one way system in operation from top of Well Street along Wellmeadow Street to Lady Lane then right into George Street and all the way up to Castle Street back into Wellmeadow.
The idea also comes as more parking spaces will soon be lost as the new Museum development allowed for spaces to be lost outside the former Territorial Army Hall in the High Street to allow for buses parking.

There could well be implications for businesses as well as a downturn in passing trade for the few businesses who have survived a massive downturn in trade within the area as well as implications for emergency services who could be delayed further and as we all know vital seconds can help save lives.
