Go ahead given for Linwood Tyre Recycling Plant

A tyre recycling plant with the capacity to recycle 100,000 tonnes of waste tyres a year has been given the green light by the Scottish Government.

The Scottish government said that the recycled materials from the new facility which is expected to open in 2027 will be used as a substitute for virgin rubber in tyre manufacturing, alongside in industrial products and construction.

The facility will be operated Renfrewshire based SSH Recycling and will be the first of its kind in the UK.

Construction should begin in 2025 with the site operating by 2027.
