A six-year-old girl has tragically died after being struck by a car on Johnston Street in Paisley, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
Emergency services were called to Johnston Street at around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, following reports that two children had been hit by a vehicle.
Sadly, the six-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition has not been confirmed.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, police received a report of two children being struck by a car on Johnston Street, Paisley.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and our thoughts are with the family of the girl who died. They ask that their privacy is respected at this time.”
Officers are appealing for information and have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police by calling 101.
