Police have sealed off a large area of Linwood early this morning following the discovery of a suspicious package left on a residential doorstep.
Emergency services were called to the scene after the item was reported by concerned residents. According to locals, the package was found in the area around Hart Street and Cotton Street, prompting an immediate response.
A cordon has since been put in place, with officers urging members of the public to avoid the area while investigations are ongoing.
Residents living nearby have begun evacuating their homes as a precaution. Witnesses described a significant emergency presence, with police vehicles and specialist units arriving shortly after the initial report.
At this stage, it is not yet known what the package contains, and authorities have not confirmed whether it poses a genuine threat.
