Residents in Linwood can expect some Hollywood-style action next week as filming for the hit BBC drama Rebus comes to town.
Napier Street will be partially blocked off on Wednesday, June 17, between 7.30am and 7.30pm to allow production crews to take over the Linwood Welfare and Social Recreational Club for scenes in the forthcoming second series.
As part of the filming, several areas of the street will be reserved for production vehicles and parking. Traffic may also be temporarily held using stop/go boards while scenes are being recorded.
The acclaimed crime drama, based on the best-selling novels by Ian Rankin, stars Richard Rankin as the iconic Edinburgh detective John Rebus. The series proved a hit with viewers when it debuted and is now returning for a second run.
Joining the cast for the new series are John Michie, Stephen McCole, Emily Barber and Lorne MacFadyen. Returning cast members include Brian Ferguson, Lucie Shorthouse, Amy Manson and Stuart Bowman.
Written by Gregory Burke, the second series will delve deeper into Rebus’s troubled personal life and the professional challenges he faces as he investigates serious crimes. The new episodes are set to explore the links between violent crime and the worlds of law and finance.
The filming will bring a touch of television glamour to Linwood, with local residents likely to spot cast, crew and production vehicles around Napier Street throughout the day.
