Police are investigating after a woman was deliberately struck by a car in what is being treated as a targeted attack on Clippens Road in Linwood. Another incident tonight seen someone else knocked down on Bridge of Weir Road, it isn’t clear if the incidents are related at this time.
Emergency services were called to the first incident at around 4.50pm on Tuesday, 30 June, after reports that a woman had been hit by a vehicle.
The car failed to stop at the scene and drove off. Officers are carrying out enquiries to trace both the vehicle and its driver.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50pm on Tuesday, 30 June, 2026, police received a report of a woman having been struck by a car in Clippens Road, Linwood. The car then drove off and enquiries are ongoing to trace it and the driver.
“The woman has been taken to hospital to be checked over. It is not believed that she sustained any serious injuries.”

Police closed the entrance to Clippens Road from the roundabout at Bridge of Weir Road to Stirling Drive while officers examined the scene. Pedestrian access to nearby shops remained open during the investigation.
A video of the incident sent to Paisley Photographs appears to show the car come to a stop before driving across the road and striking the woman, supporting police enquiries that the incident was targeted.
Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing, and anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision is urged to contact Police Scotland.
