New Chinese restaurant set to open in former bank building on Paisley’s Neilston Road

A new Chinese restaurant is set to bring fresh flavours to Paisley’s Neilston Road in the coming months, with work expected to get underway inside one of the area’s most recognisable buildings.

The new eatery will occupy the prominent unit that many locals will remember as the former TSB bank before it was transformed into the well-known and respected La Banca restaurant. Following La Banca’s closure, the building has remained vacant, but preparations are now under way to give the site a new lease of life.

While details of the menu and opening date have yet to be announced, the arrival of another restaurant is likely to be welcomed by residents, with the building once again set to become a bustling destination for diners.

Given the building’s banking history, it has also sparked some playful suggestions over what the new restaurant could be called. Among the more imaginative ideas are Bank of BaoThe Fortune VaultThe Vault KitchenThe Dim Sum DepositWok InterestThe Dragon’s VaultVault of Flavour, and The Golden Wok Vault. While none of these are expected to become the restaurant’s official name, they certainly prove that Paisley residents haven’t lost their sense of humour.

For now, locals will have to wait a little longer for more details, but with work progressing behind the scenes, it won’t be long before the former bank begins its latest chapter—this time serving up noodles, rice and dumplings instead of handling deposits and withdrawals.
