A McGill’s bus became stuck after striking a crumbling crash barrier at the junction of Ben Nevis Road and Hurlet Road on Tuesday afternoon, causing lengthy traffic delays for motorists.
The bus, fleet number J8018, was left stranded after colliding with the damaged barrier at the busy junction, forcing Hurlet Road to be reduced to a single lane while the incident was dealt with.
The lane restriction resulted in long tailbacks on both Hawkhead Road and Barrhead Road, with traffic moving slowly as drivers attempted to navigate around the obstruction.
No injuries have been reported and it is not yet known how the bus came to strike the barrier. Recovery arrangements were made to remove the vehicle and allow the road to fully reopen.
The incident caused significant disruption during the afternoon, with motorists experiencing delays on surrounding routes while traffic management was put in place. Passengers had some delays on some services operating in the area due to the disruption.
