Another blow has been dealt to Paisley town centre after Farmfoods announced it will permanently close its Causeyside Street store later this year.
The supermarket, located at 29 Causeyside, has confirmed that its final day of trading will be Sunday, 13 September. Staff have informed customers that changing shopping habits have led to the difficult decision to shut the store.
The closure will come as disappointing news to many local shoppers who have relied on the store for affordable groceries and frozen food over the years.
It is important to note that Farmfoods is not closing as a company. The retailer continues to operate hundreds of stores across the UK. However, it has recently closed a number of individual branches, including stores on Victoria Road, Anniesland Road and Knightswood in Glasgow, with the Paisley branch now joining that growing list.
The announcement is likely to raise fresh concerns about the future of Paisley town centre, which has seen a number of retailers disappear from its high streets in recent years.
