Sinkhole forces urgent sewer repairs on Greenhill Road

Emergency repair works are underway on Greenhill Road after a collapsed sewer pipe caused a sinkhole to form in the road.

Scottish Water is carrying out the urgent works following the collapse, which resulted in damage to the road surface and has required significant excavation to reach the affected section of pipe.

Engineers are currently on site undertaking the complex repair, with large excavations needed to safely access and replace the damaged sewer.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We are carrying out urgent repairs to a collapsed sewer pipe on Greenhill Road following the formation of a sinkhole.”

Motorists and local residents are likely to experience disruption while the repairs are completed, and anyone travelling through the area is advised to allow extra time for their journey or seek alternative routes where possible.

Scottish Water has not yet confirmed how long the repairs are expected to take, but work will continue until the damaged sewer has been fully repaired and the road can be safely reinstated.
