With many people being paid this weekend and expected to head out shopping, motorists are being warned to allow extra time if they plan to visit the Phoenix Retail Park in Linwood.
The retail park has become well known for lengthy traffic queues at busy times, with some drivers reporting it can take anywhere between 30 minutes and two hours just to exit the site.
One of the main concerns raised by motorists is the temporary traffic layout at the Linwood Road / Barskiven Road roundabout, where traffic has been reduced to a single lane. Many believe this has significantly reduced the flow of vehicles leaving the retail park.

Drivers have also highlighted problems on Linwood Road where some motorists fail to merge in turn, leading to unnecessary congestion and frustration as queues build.
The Phoenix Retail Park has only one main exit, and many believe the lack of an additional access route contributes to the gridlock, particularly during peak shopping periods, weekends and holidays.
With the end of the month traditionally bringing an increase in shoppers following payday, anyone planning a visit this weekend is advised to expect delays and, where possible, consider travelling at quieter times or allowing extra time for their journey.
Have you experienced the traffic at the Phoenix recently? How long did it take you to get out of the retail park? Maybe you arrived on Tuesday and are still waiting to get out today ? Let us know your experience in the comments.
