A 32-year-old man has been arrested after crashing his Nissan Almera into a tree near the B776 in Renfrew.

Police say the incident happened at around 3.25pm on Saturday, 8 August 2026, with the driver subsequently found to be three times over the legal drink-drive limit.

The man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.

If convicted, the potential consequences of drink-driving can include:

🚫 A mandatory minimum 12-month driving ban
💷 A fine of up to £5,000
⚖️ A criminal record

Thankfully, this incident did not result in a more serious outcome, but it serves as another reminder of the dangers of getting behind the wheel after drinking.

Don’t risk it — if you’re drinking, don’t drive.
