A 41-year-old man is facing court after being arrested in Renfrew on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Road Policing officers from Glasgow were on duty on High Street, Renfrew, on Thursday, 3 September 2026, when they stopped the man.
Officers suspected he had been driving while over the legal alcohol limit.
The man reportedly refused to provide an evidential breath sample at the roadside.
Following his arrest, he was taken to a police office where he was again asked to provide a breath sample — but reportedly refused for a second time.
The man has now been reported for failing to provide a specimen, and is due to appear at court.
If convicted, failing to provide a specimen can carry serious consequences, including a minimum 12-month driving disqualification, a fine of up to £5,000, and a criminal record.
The case will now be a matter for the courts.
