A Local Paisley man has launched an emotional fundraising appeal to help save the life of his beloved dog, Sky, after she was diagnosed with an aggressive tumour in her leg.
Sky is an 11-year-old American Bully crossed with American Staffordshire Terrier and has been a loyal companion to her owner since she was just two months old.
Her owner was recently given the devastating news that Sky has a highly aggressive tumour affecting her femur.
Thankfully, veterinary examinations have shown that the tumour has not spread elsewhere, but Sky is now suffering significant pain.
Vets have strongly recommended that she undergo an urgent leg amputation and biopsy to remove the affected limb, relieve her suffering and determine exactly what type of tumour she has.
The estimated cost of the life-saving treatment is around £2,000.
Sky’s owner has already paid for her initial veterinary consultations, X-rays, ultrasounds and blood tests, but says he has now exhausted his financial resources and cannot afford the next stage of treatment, For reference estimated bills which include the owners address etc from the vet have been shared with this page.
He is also a cancer survivor currently in remission and is unable to work, making the situation even more difficult.
For 11 years, Sky has been a constant source of companionship and support.
Her owner said: “Sky has been my rock for 11 years, and she means the world to me.”
He is now asking people across Paisley and beyond to consider supporting the fundraising campaign, with even a small donation potentially helping towards the cost of Sky’s urgent treatment.
Those who cannot donate are also being asked to share the appeal, which could help reach someone who is able to contribute.
The fundraiser’s organiser has also stressed that the campaign will be completely transparent, with receipts and relevant documentation available for anyone wishing to see how the money is spent.
Any funds left over after Sky’s treatment will be donated to a foundation, dog shelter or used to support animal welfare.
For Sky’s owner, the appeal is ultimately about giving his much-loved companion the chance to overcome this devastating diagnosis and enjoy more time by his side.
If you are able to help Sky, please consider donating or sharing her fundraising appeal.
