Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club has been left devastated following the tragic death of one of its members, Iain McTavish.

The club announced the heartbreaking news after Iain was killed yesterday on the A8 Greenock Road while riding with his fellow cyclists.

Iain was out with the bunch when the tragedy occurred, leaving members of the club and the wider cycling community struggling to come to terms with his sudden death.

In a statement, Johnstone Wheelers said:

“This will take a long time to sink in and process, but for now suffice it to say that we are devastated at the loss of one of cycling’s good guys.”

The club shared a photograph of Iain riding at the forefront of the Thursday bunch, a poignant image of a man doing something he clearly loved — cycling alongside friends and fellow club members.

His death will be felt deeply by those who knew him, both within Johnstone Wheelers and across the local cycling community.

Our thoughts are with Iain’s family, friends, fellow cyclists and everyone who knew him at this incredibly difficult time.
