A 45-year-old man has died after being struck by a car near Junction 29 in the early hours of Monday morning.
The pedestrian was hit by a black Mini Cooper at around 11.45pm on Sunday, 13 September 2026.
Emergency services attended the scene, but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
No other injuries were reported.
The road was closed while officers carried out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision. It was eventually reopened at around 8.55am on Monday, 14 September.
Sergeant Jack Swindells said:
“Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time, and our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and has yet to speak with officers to come forward.
“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information which could assist officers is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3828 of 13 September 2026.
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the incident and may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam.
