A piece of Paisley High Street history is coming to an end, with the announcement that McLauchlan Jewellers will close its doors for the final time on 31 December 2026 — bringing 117 years of family trading to an end.
The story of McLauchlan Jewellers began way back in 1909, when Craig’s great-grandmother, Kate, first opened the family business on Paisley High Street.
For more than a century, the shop has served generations of customers, becoming part of the fabric of the town and witnessing enormous changes in Paisley along the way.
Now, after 47 years dedicated to the family business, Craig is stepping down and retiring.
Craig followed in the footsteps of his father, taking over the business in 1991 and continuing a family tradition that had already been established for more than 80 years.
That means that when the shutters finally come down at the end of this year, it won’t simply mark the closure of another shop — it will bring an end to 117 years of family history on Paisley High Street.
To mark the final chapter, McLauchlan Jewellers has launched a 25% retirement sale across all remaining stock, including diamonds, gold, silver, watches and clocks.
After 117 years, the family has thanked the generations of customers who have supported the business throughout its incredible journey.
And perhaps one of the saddest parts of the announcement is that there will be no next generation taking over.
After 117 years, the McLauchlan name will disappear from the Paisley High Street as a trading business on 31 December.
