Tragic Car Crash in Johnstone Claims Life of 53-Year-Old Man

In the early hours of Saturday, November 9, a tragic incident unfolded on Beith Road in Johnstone when a car crash led to a fatality. Emergency services were alerted to the scene around 2 a.m. after reports of a one-car collision.

Upon arrival, officers from Police Scotland discovered that the vehicle involved had caught fire. Thankfully, the blaze was swiftly extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Despite the quick response, a 53-year-old man was seriously injured and subsequently transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead.

The accident led to the closure of Beith Road for several hours, with authorities working to secure the scene and conduct an initial investigation. The road was reopened to traffic by approximately 7:50 a.m.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland shared the following statement:
“Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, officers attended a one-car crash on Beith Road in Johnstone. The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended, and a 53-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he was pronounced dead. The car caught fire and it was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The road was closed and re-opened around 7.50 a.m. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, and they are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area around the time of the incident.
